where scrapbooking is a work of heart :)

CraftRoom

November 9, 2010

Hi Everyone,
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I did a little work on my craft room this weekend…
Here are a few photo’s.

This is my Ikea Desk…I put up some of the Bygiel rails on the wall to hold some baskets and my favorite punches that I use the most…

Below is the view from the front of my desk. I have plenty of room to grow on my embellishments center and my CD rack that used to hold my stamps is now a quick reach shelf that holds baskets that I can easily take out and put on my desk.
OK I’ll confess this area in the below picture needs a little work. I really dislike that bracket shelving,
but it works for right now…
and the next picture you’ve seen before in other photos…
My punches are on the Ikea Bygiel rails and my storage area is
the white Jetmax cubes you can find at Michaels. I got most of mine last year
on Thanksgiving night when they had them on sale for 55% off…
Have a great day everyone.
PS Scott tells me my video thingy I’m waiting for shipping 🙂

Stamp Storage and Copic Coloring

October 19, 2010

Hi Everyone,
I’ve been going through some of my stamps and organizing them. I had about 50 CD cases of the $1 clear stamps that I’ve had forever and needed to do something with since I’m running out of room on my CD rack. I was surfing YouTube for some ideas and found THIS. SOOOO I spent some time organizing and moved the $1 stamps to binders. I’m actually thinking about getting everything in binders now….I’ll post more when I’m done….

While I was working on my stamps I felt the need to play with my Copic’s. Here is a video of some coloring. Nothing special just a quick video….

Have a great day….

It’s going to be so much fun and I can’t wait to get started. My first project will be in October. There are three video designers and we’ll each be taking a month. Head on over to the Blue Moon Blog and check out all the fabulous designers. It’s gonna be a fun time….

Me first….A few weeks ago I posted my storage tips…Click HERE to read more details.

Tuesday Tips~Ink Storage

August 10, 2010

Happy Tuesday….

WOW! We just hit 1500 followers…..We’ll be at 2000 before we know it….I’ll have to start thinking of another My Favorite Things Giveaway, like we did when we hit 1000…..

Last Friday you all had such wonderful tips to share….

What do you think about making this a weekly share? I’ll come up with the topic and you all share your ideas. I so enjoyed reading all of your comments and storage ideas. If there is anything in particular you would like to learn about or hear what others do just send me an email or click on the Contact Me button on the top of this page. I’ll start making a list of topics….

My tip for today is….Ink Storage

I have two systems. The first is for my Stampin’ Up! ink….
I purchased this carousel a while ago from Stampin’ Up! and love storing my SU inks and refills in it. However I’ve never had it actually spin smoothly. I think I need to oil up the bottom spinny thingy (thats the technical term lol).

For my Tim Holtz Distress inks, Paper Trey Ink and Chalk inks I use this wall mounted storage system from Organize More. The one I have hold 80 ink pads, but they have many other styles. They also carry other types of storage systems as well (Ribbon, Stamp, Cricut etc).

Hope you have a great Tuesday….
Don’t forget you can still comment on yesterday post for the Cutting Cafe’ giveaway….Hugs

12×12 Cardstock~Tuesday Tips

August 3, 2010

Today’s Tuesday Tips is more of a plea for HELP!

Right now I keep all my 12×12 cardstock and pattern paper that is not a part of a collection on my Jetmax cubes and I hate it…..Here is why….I have two or three shelves that keep collapsing. So what do you use?

What I would really love to have are the kind of shelving that you would find at scrap stores, but they are way to expensive for me….I had a tall black wire thing from Michael’s (or was is ACMoore) and that wasn’t very stable on my carpeting….

Now for my collections…Whenever I order a collection or particular paper line I keep them in this large basket, that I’ve had forever.

Loose paper, brads, mini pads etc all go in one of these clear 12×12 envelopes that I get from the dollar store.

I try to keep the most recent collections in the front of the basket. As I use the collections I will either move it to the back or take it out of the envelope and move it to my regular shelving/storage.

So does anyone have any good storage solutions for my 12×12 cardstock? I’m very happy with my collection storage and just the JetMax cubes that I’m looking to do something with….

HERE is a link to last weeks 8-1/2 x 11 storage tip…

Cardstock~Tuesday Tips

July 27, 2010

Happy Tuesday. Today’s tip is 8-1/2 x 11 cardstock….

My favorite basic white card stock is by Georgia Pacific (found at Walmart). It’s great for the base of cards, making flowers and cutting with your Cricut….

For Copic coloring I prefer Neenah Cardstock….rich and creamy

For colored cardstock I’m Paper Trey Ink all the way. The quality is amazing and I love the color selection as well as being able to order 12 sheets for $3 or 24 for $5. They also have matching ribbon ;0)

Storage:
When I went to Ikea a few weeks ago I picked up these (2/$3.99) magazine files.

Inside the magazine files, I use file folders from Michael’s dollar spot to separate my cardstock by color. When I first started I was writing the name of the company/color on the folder, but found that if I just cut a slit in the plastic that they come in I can just slide my cardstock out and keep the label inside the original package. This way I don’t have to relabel the files if I decided not to reorder that same color.

I keep my scraps right in front of the original package, so I reach for those first 🙂

Stay Tuned next week for 12×12 cardstock and pattern paper 🙂

Hugs,

Ribbon Storage

July 20, 2010

So this has been one of my biggest storage problem areas and I’ve tried it all…From wrapping them on clothespins to keeping them on the rolls. Finally I think I have it…A while back I posted a picture of my ribbons storage. This is just a revised version of what I was doing before….

Now I use those awesome 3M removable hooks (I love love love 3M hooks). I have 4 hooks on my door with most of my ribbon sorted by color.

each color is on one of these large 2″ binder rings (Staples). The ribbon is clipped with a binder clip and the tagged with the color and company name…I like to tag my Paper Trey Ink ribbon.

So that was just my satin and stitched ribbon…
I have the same method for my laces, but they hang from my window curtain…Lace…Pretty…

of course you have to have one on the other side of the window to keep the rod balanced.
This is my fun trim..
Yep there still is a whole drawer of ribbon and I won’t even show you the box that still has ribbon on clothespins….

Distressed Ink Storage

June 19, 2010

I decided today I needed to work on a little ink storage organization. Since my collection of Distress Inks has grown I’m finding it harder to find the right ink pad. I did label them with my label maker, but it would be much easier to see the actual color….

So with some old labels we had around the house and some velcro, I’m hard at work and inky to my elbows (OK maybe not my elbows). I’m inking the labels and then writing the names of the ink color on the labels. This way I can see the color when they are on my shelves…I’m also using one side of velcro to adhere the ink sponge to the bottom of my ink pads. This way I’m ready once I select my color….

Hope your having a great Saturday.
Hugs,
