Ribbon Storage

July 20, 2010

So this has been one of my biggest storage problem areas and I’ve tried it all…From wrapping them on clothespins to keeping them on the rolls. Finally I think I have it…A while back I posted a picture of my ribbons storage. This is just a revised version of what I was doing before….

Now I use those awesome 3M removable hooks (I love love love 3M hooks). I have 4 hooks on my door with most of my ribbon sorted by color.

each color is on one of these large 2″ binder rings (Staples). The ribbon is clipped with a binder clip and the tagged with the color and company name…I like to tag my Paper Trey Ink ribbon.

So that was just my satin and stitched ribbon…
I have the same method for my laces, but they hang from my window curtain…Lace…Pretty…

of course you have to have one on the other side of the window to keep the rod balanced.
This is my fun trim..
Yep there still is a whole drawer of ribbon and I won’t even show you the box that still has ribbon on clothespins….

It's so nice to have things organized so they can be easy to see. Some things get forgotten when they are buried in a pile!

Very nice! I recently purchased a medium size box of ribbon from a long time scrapbooker that was PURGING her stash for $3!!! YES and I am STILL digging out ribbon! I had the same dilemma you have Christina but I solved it by purchasing the Jumbo EZer Ribbon Purse! I saw the cheapest price on Overstock http://www.overstock.com/Crafts-Sewing/Jumbo-Pull-Ezer-Ribbon-Purse/3249283/product.htmlSo I bought it and have it filled half way so far and I STILL have ribbon from that $3 box!! I have not even gotten to the ribbon I have purchased myself! I posted empty pics of the bag on my blog http://www.scrapinnovations.blogspot.comand plan to post an updated pic to show it half full soon!!

@vernetta thanks for the great tip on the ribbon bag. :0)I had to remove the new commenting software that I was using. It was causing problems on my blog. I loved that I could reply, but it was just a little quirky…

I also use the binder clips for ribbon that doesn't fit on a spool. My husband drilled holes for dowels under one of my shelves. Then added a l 1/2 inch wooden strip of wood under the dowels with nails 1 inch apart where I hang extra pieces of ribbon on mini binder clips.I agree ribbon is the hardest to store.Linda in Stanwood

I rewound all of my ribbon a few months back when you showed the binder clip/tie rack thing. Love it. But just recently came upon a huge stash from a yard sale and just cut 3×3 squares of cardboard and wrapped them and have them in a small jetmax drawer. Love both ways. Thanks for sharing, I am always looking for new ways to organize my s(crap) room 🙂

Oh, I like this! All my ribbon is jammed into a drawer…some on clothespins (like you), some left on the rolls and some just loose and getting crumpled. Thanks!

Love your way of organizing ribbon. Most of mine is in jars. Hard to go through and have to iron before I use. 🙂

I wish I knew what to do with those little 4-12″ pieces that are just too good to toss. I know I'll use them on a card eventually, but I end up working around it all on my craft mat.

I have two of those racks from Michaels on my table and love them, plus clothes pins. I'm fairly new so ribbon isn't a problem so far. Thank you for the binder clip idea though. I'm going to remember that.Mary Ann

oooh! I love your lace selection! This is very similar to how I store my ribbon, which you can see here: http://kraftieguru.blogspot.com/2010/07/random-leftovers-clean-up-time.html. Pictures toward the bottom.

My ribbon is half in storage rolls, half in a box sort of like the one in your picture. I have a large craft room, which means more room for stuff to get spread out everywhere!

I'm absolutely thrilled to share an exciting creative project that I recently completed for @teamspellbinders . This particular piece was crafted using the beautiful and intricate dies from this month's Stitched Die Club collection. After experimenting with different possibilities, I decided to make my creation into a decorative tag.
