Amazing, Wonderful, Beautiful Layout

July 21, 2011

Hi Everyone
WOW is it ☀hot! ☀hot! hot☀! I normally don’t mind the heat too much, but this is gross!

Today I wanted to share my latest layout with you. Being the only girl in the house I don’t get to do many girlie layouts, so this was a treat ❤. This is a picture of me and my beautiful niece from last summer.

The pattern paper is by Simple Stories (100 Days of Summer), I used some other odds and end papers I had in my stash, and stamped amazing, wonderful, beautiful (Ali Edwards stamp) as my title. I also cut up some trim I purchased a few months ago at Hobby Lobby as an accent on the page.
I used two different  Martha Stewart punches for the butterflies and put a little button clip on the tab that says beautiful.

I hope you all have a great day,
Stay cool!

My Scrapbooking Process

June 30, 2011

Hi Everyone,
Today I thought I would share with you some of the way I start out a scrapbook page. My mom has always asked, how do you decide what picture to do? What makes you pick the colors you pick? You know stuff like that. So today I thought I would share with you a little bit of my process and how I start out a layout project…

First thing I learned was…Do not scrap in chronological order. Pick a picture that inspires you…So for example the next layout I’m working on is with this picture….I love this picture of Ethan and his grandparents.

The problem is my mother-in-law is wearing a green sweater and it just seemed to stand out in this picture, so I had it printed in black and white…

Sorry about the glare 🙂

Generally when I’m selecting the colors I’ll use with my project I pick from the picture. Since I’m using a black and white photo I can pretty much pick whatever inspires me.

Next I start looking through my cardstock and I pick colors that I want to use as photo mats, titles, accents…

Then I move on to some other pattern paper that I think might coordinate with my main focal color pattern paper. Since I went with a black and white picture I pulled in more black and white (really off-white) colors.

Slowly I start pulling out supplies that I think I may want to use somewhere on my layout.
Like Punches…

embellishments and stamps…

I don’t always use what I pick and sometimes I pick something different as I’m working…

As I start to work on this layout I will snap more pictures and show you more of the process. Thats all for today, I hope you enjoy the day.

Hugs and happy scrapping 🙂

Cousins Layout

June 29, 2011

Hi Everyone,
This has been a week and a 1/2…I hope it starts to get a little better soon….

This is one of my fav layouts I’ve done so far. It’s of Ethan playing with his cousin’s, my twin nieces. They have such a good time together…

I cut the border title cousins using my Silhouette. I just picked a font that I already had on my computer and welded it together. I don’t remember what font it was though?

Of course the paper is all October Afternoon and from a variety of collections…

I used the Just the Ticket Paper Trey Ink Stamp and Die set to create the little tag and then the
Buttons #1 Die with the same pattern paper I used for the layout…

Supplies:
Pattern Paper: October Afternoon
Cardstock: Bazzil Brown
Stamp Sets: Just the Ticket, Bitty Backgrounds Blocks (Paper Trey Ink), Calendar (Jillibean Soup)
Inks: Malted Milk, Brown Sugar, Stick Candy (Jenni Bowlin) (on sale at Joann’s.com
Punches/Dies: Postage Stamp Punch (Fiskar), Just the Ticket Die (Paper Trey Ink), Buttons #1 (Paper Trey Ink)
Die Cutting: Silhouette SD
Misc: Twine (Paper Trey Ink), Sewing

Thanks everyone and have a great Wednesday.

The Good Life Layout

June 22, 2011

Hi Everyone,
Wow Wednesday? Ummm what happened to Monday and Tuesday….Weekend is coming and I can’t wait. We’re heading to the lake all day Saturday…

I have been really having a great time working on layouts. At the beginning of the year I started doing one layout a month. I’m now up to one (if I’m lucky two) layouts a week.

I’ve been learning so much from Teri my SBFF (ok I know you are wondering what SBFF stands for, it’s scrappin’ best friends forever). Not only has she directed me to some great scrapbooking resources like Page Maps she’s also given me some great tricks on using my Silhouette. Teri has been such a huge inspiration to me and getting me to scrapbook more. Thanks T! You have to check out her layouts this week. Today’s layout is my favorite, or wait was it yesterday’s? No, no it was Monday’s…Well anyway head on over to Teri’s blog and check out all the great projects she’s been working on, she has even more coming this week…

Today’s layout is from Scott’s birthday last year. My favorite part about working on this layout was having Scott pick the title and getting involved with helping me. He decided to go with “The Good Life” as the title since we had his party last year at the lake.
Now I will leave you with some pictures of my layout…

Supplies:
Electronic Cutter: Silhouette SD
Pattern Paper: Seaside & 5&Dime (October Afternoon)
Cardstock: Black Bazzil Cardstock
Dies/punches: Ledger Die (Paper Trey Ink), 1-1/2″ Scallop Punch, Upper Crest Border Punch (Fiskar)
Buttons: Enchanted Evening (Paper Trey Ink)
Stamps: 7Gypsies Date Stamp (Thank T!)
Twine: Black Twine

Have a great Wednesday!

Family Ties Layout

June 8, 2011

Hi Everyone,

Today I thought I would share a layout that I worked on for the past two days. I had it setup every which way before I decided on this one as the layout.
Sorry I’m not the best at taking scrapbook page pictures.

This is of Ethan, Grandpa Thomas, and my niece at the lake last summer.
I love watching Nicole Magourik over on Two Peas and I love how she incorporates stamping on her layouts. So I pulled out my Paper Trey Ink Stamps and Jenni Bowlin Inks and stamped “A happy life is made of little things”. The sentiment is from PTI’s Little Lady stamp set and I used 4 different color inks to stamp the border (Chicken Feed, Lemon Drop, Chili Powder, & Seed Packet).
The majority of the paper and embellishments is from “My Minds Eye” Lemon Twist collection.
Have a great Wednesday,
Hugs,

Piano Man Layout

May 27, 2011

Hi Everyone,
Well today will be a very very long day. I’m dropping Ethan off at school and then heading to work for 8am. I’ll probably be spending the whole day helping get everything set for the fundraiser tonight that starts at 5pm. Hopefully I get a minute to run home and freshen up before the party begins.

Tomorrow we are heading to the cottage to start painting and getting the place opened for the summer. I’m hoping between my brother-in-law and myself we can get the place painted in one day. I’ve got my fingers crossed…I’d love to have two whole days with nothing to do…except laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping…Oh now why did I go and starting thinking about that…

Anyway, yesterday I had the afternoon to play and worked on a layout of Ethan. He started taking piano lessons about two summers ago and we decided that after a years worth of lessons it was time to get rid of the keyboard that he was practicing on and get him a real piano. My favorite picture is of him leaning on the door watching the guys unload it…He was so excited and he plays the piano beautifully.

Here is the layout and a few pictures. I can’t believe how much Ethan has grown even from last year.

Piano man is cut from the Alphalicous Cricut Cartridge..I cut it in two layers at the same size and just off centered the letters so the black card stock would show under the orange card stock.

For the most part the layout is done with October Afternoon pattern paper. The music note paper is from Thrift Shop and the orange and white polka dots are from 5 & Dime…I also used a cream card stock for the base of the layout and a green for some accent.

I have to tell you I’ve been singing Piano Man (Billy Joel) for the past two days. For those of you that have heard me sing…well, as my dad always says “Sing by the door, we’ll help you out”…
I’m really behind on my email….I hope to get caught up this weekend…
I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
Hugs and happy crafting.

Scrapbook Challenge #4-April

April 4, 2011

Hi Everyone,
Ready for this months Scrapbook Challenge?
Here’s mine…This is from last spring when we set up the trampoline for Ethan.

I really enjoyed making this page….
If you are looking for some great tutorials on how to make your own photo collage, Kristina Werner did one not to long ago (HERE).

For those of you that are new to my site…Somewhere around the beginning of each month I post a challenge for a scrapbook page. It can be a 12×12, 8×8, 8-1/2 x11, single page, double page or even a mini album. There isn’t a sketch to follow, colors you have to use or anything like that. It’s just a way for us to work on a little scrapbooking and share what we love to do. Each challenge I will have a link so you can  share your finished scrapbook project. Just upload it to your blog, Facebook page, or favorite message board and link it below…
That’s it…Just some scrapbooking fun…

Hugs and Happy Crafting,
