Hi Everyone,
Here’s a little bonus video for you this week on my attempt to cut fabric with my Cricut Expression 2.
Watch Video Below | Watch on You Tube
One thing I learned was I need a different type of fusible webbing. The one I purchase was from Joann’s but it was called “lite” which I didn’t see until I go home. So tonight I’ll run to Walmart and get the Heat and Bond which is another product I saw in a tutorial that would work.
Here is the video I did on Monday using the Flower Shoppe Cartridge

Great video. Yes, get the regular Steam and Seam. I've used it in the past for lots of stuff, though I never tried cutting fabric on the Cricut E at all. And I used to dip fabric into the stiffener and wring it out, lay it flat to dry. Love the paintbrush and heat gun technique. You are certainly teaching an old dog new tricks. TY

Great review sissy!! I have used the head and bond with my Cricut and it worked PERFECT. You need to give it a try – you'll LOVE it!! That flower cart is super cute 🙂 Hugs, T

I've also done some fabric cutting with my Cricut. I did use the heavier bond like you mentioned, put my fabric side down, made sure I had a brand new blade in, and a really sticky mat and it did pretty well although sometimes I had to trim just a bit. I did pre wash my fabric to get rid of any sizing on it to make sure the heat 'n bond worked best. I don't know if that's all that important but I had read that you needed to do that. I did a Onesie for my granddaughter and it's on my blog under May 14 if anyone wants to look.I need to ask my daughter how it sid through the wash! 🙂

Thanks for the video!! My daughter is dying to make headband flowers etc in material. They are the RAGE right now. Question: Did you use a deep cut blade? Thanks for all your amazing vidoes. I LOVE em.Val

Thanks so much for doing this video! I've been meaning to try this also. Could you please explain the difference between the pressure and the blade depth? I don't understand the difference, seems like the higher blade number would be similar to pressure? Can't wait to see what you make out of these flowers…hurry, I'm dying to see…

I tried the Seam-A-Steam2 last month, the results were not that great. I didn't wash the fabric per the instructions, maybe that was part of the problem. I am going to buy Heat and Bond for next time.

Thanks for the demo. I've never tried to cut material before … I might give it a try one day:D

Thanks for sharing you experience as it happened 🙂 Trial and error is what it's all about with new techniques but some videos don't share the things that go wrong, just the triumphant outcomes. You made me feel like it's OK to not be perfect every time :)HUGS,KristinaYour Memories Here

Christina, Thanks for the great, informative video. When you use the fabric Stiffener, how will you attach it to your project? Will you then need to use fusible webbing?I have wanted to do this as well. Vinyl, too! Thanks for sharingSusan

Thanks for doing this Christina. I want to give that a try but didn't know were to begin.

Christina, I have cut fabric before and you need to set your settings all to MAX except your speed, set it at 3, and your blade at 6. I used the regular fusible bonding. not light weight and it works great!

I found your blog/website, tutorials last night while I googled 'exp2 tutorials'. I saw all of your videos and just simply love them! You are very detailed and so easy to understand. I am new and will continue to follow! Thanks for all those. I was one of the lucky ones that stayed up late one night and was watching HSN and ordered mine! woot-woot! But need help because all I am use to is the Design studio w/my small cricut machine. But I have learned a lot by watching you. Again, Thanks.

Great video. I'm anxious to see your tote when it's finished. I haven't tried cutting material on my cricut yet but I have stamped on a onsie and it turned out so cute.

Hi Christina! Just wanted to let you know that there is a spray on fabric stiffener called Stiff N Stuff. I have used it and it works well. I am going to get some of the one you used to just to try it to compare the two. Hope all is well with you!

Hi Christina,A few months ago I did a project cutting fabric. There isn't a Walmart in my town so I couldn't find many of the products shown in videos. My fabric store did have Pellon (a heavy duty wonder-under). It irons on beautifully. I leave the paper backing on, but the paper is in contact with the mat. It worked better than the paper facing up. You just have to make sure you flip your image if you need to either with your cricut or gypsy. HeatherM

One of the tips I have read is to use use blue painters tape and tape down the edges so the lining doesn't come up. I have yet to try this though. Good luck!

Great idea. Definitely buy the heavier webbing. It will work much better. There are so many wonderful ideas that you can do with fabric. Thanks again!!

Keep on trying! I'd like to be able to cut fabrics too as I am a quilter and I have lots of scraps that I can use for card embellishment.Barb from Toronto, Canada

Thank you Christina for your great video and trial and error. I was recently looking at YouTube videos on cutting fabric with the Cricut and there are a lot of different techniques. Let us know how the regular fusible material works. Thank you for sharing such great projects with us all. I love all of your videos!
