Hi Everyone,
Happy Friday 🙂
Today I’m sharing with you a Christmas tree made out of rosettes. If you are not familiar with making rosettes check out my video HERE.
Mom told me about this tree she made and I got to see if yesterday. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to make one. She found the instructions through the Gentleman Crafters blog and he made one using THESE instructions from Archivers. I had a blast making this last night.
There are two things I would do differently. There are three layers on the bottom the same size. I would make the third layer a 1/4″ smaller so that it doesn’t look like the tree has a step up. I would probably do that with all the layers that are the same size and I would also ink the edges. I still want to add a little glitter to look like snow and I’m thinking this would be fun to use a punched edge with too.
After making this last night I know one thing….I need a new hot glue gun…if you all have any recommendations please share…I have the worst gun there is, my finger was so sore last night having to squeeze the trigger so hard to get the glue to come out…I certainly need a new one.
Here are a few pictures of my finished tree.
For the top I added a small rosette like the instructions said but I think I need to add a little something to that too.
I used a little cork topper for a jar I have as the tree base but it’s too small. I need to get a paper mache box for the base and cover it with paper.
This is a great project as a way to use up some old Christmas paper you have around. I’m going to make a few more. One for my desk at work for sure. Hope you all have a great weekend.
Hugs and happy crafting,
This is fantastic I love it. Caroline xxx
I LOVE it!! Think I'll make one today. Do you think the Ribbons and Rosettes Cricut cart would work? Need to figure out my sizes? Prob have to use the Gypsy. When it comes to sizes I am “challenged” LOL. You are amazing as always! Val
Ohhhh My!!! I am Sooo Making this for My Office & At Home!!! Yours is Beautiful, Christina! I will take into consideration your added notes too. TFS, Have a Fun, Creative Weekend! Smooches…
Very nice! I saw this at Archiver's last year but never got around to making one! Yours turned out great….thanks for the extra tips!
It turned out really amazing. I love the idea of making a few as well. Great job.
Love this tree. Thanks so much for string it. I need to make once this weekend, if I get my cards done:0
This really came out adorable! What a beautiful piece of home decor…or for the office. I have gone through quite a few glue guns. I would highly recommend the Aleene's Glue Gun. It comes in a gold colored hard case and has 4 removable tips. (Although I only use the fine time one) It is not as fine time as the Surebonder one. But you have about a 3/4 in length in the tip so it does get into tiny places. Mine does not drip at all.I really liked the Surebonder and really wanted to LOVE it but it leaked and dripped constantly…like the trigger was constantly being squeezed. It has a SUPER FINE tip and would have been perfect if it did not leak. Have a blessed weekend!Valerie
Your tree turned out terrific, I may need to try one of these this season!!! I need a new hot glue gun, too!!! I just bought the SureBonder at Joann's last week and used it for the first time just now—-I'm wtih Valerie—that thing dripped the whoe time it was on!! Kind of frustrating. I think I'm going to pick up one of the Aleene ones she recommended…….have a great weekend, really enjoying your holiday projects Christina!!!! 😉
This was a wonderful project I tried it last night and it turned out wonderful for my desk at work. already getting request. I tried a different aproach at decorating, at the bottom of the tree on the last rosette I cut out a long border punch of martha stewarts train in different colors and paper peiced each train car with a different color that I use for the rosettes on a solid dark brown train border punch then glued it around the bottom rosette, now it looks like I have a train set going around the tree. I then put snow flakes punches from M.S. small punch and sparkly paper and put them on top for the star. On the next one I'm going to try the M.S. family punch and put it around the bottom of the tree. Thanks again for sharing.(annod_t@yahoo.com)
