Hi Everyone,
The other day when I posted my video on comparing the Cricut and Silhouette, Nikki one of my blog followers asked if I ever heard of scanning a stamped image and making my own die cut that would work with the image. I would call it a shadow image to my stamped image….I was so excited about the idea of taking my CC Design stamps❤ and making my own die cuts for them I couldn’t wait to figure it out…So here we go…

Here is a picture of a stamped image that I scanned and cut on the Silhouette.
Here’s what it looks like stamped…
and a little coloring too.
Have a great day everyone and thanks for stopping by

You are so talented, Christina! Thanks for the lesson this morning. I do not have this machine, but as soon as I can “sneak” it in, I might. LOLThanks for sharing.Kathy aka “Ryansmaama”
WOW ~ I am amazed! You are a GENIUS!!!! Thanks for sharing that AMAZING technique.Susan
Wow Wow Wow, lol. This is amazing! I never thought I wanted the silhoette. Boy was I wrong. I see this as a great tool along with my E2.
SOLD!!! What a great idea and use of the Silhouette! What possibilities this creates!!! Wow…very cool. Thanks for sharing this…hoping to get a Silhouette by Christmas!;)
OMG!!! Thank you for figuring out this complicated task for us!
This is a fantastic idea – you are so danged talented lady!! Just another reason to get the Silhouette (I'm waiting for the Cameo to come out)! Thanks for sharing, jackie
WOW! This is so great! I bet one could scan in a chip board album, take in just a tad, then have paper cut out to fit PERFECTLY! No more exacto knifing around edges….
I am so excited by your tutorial. I love your creativity. You have hit on what we stampers want for all of our stamps. Most of us want it to be easy and not so much computer know-how involved though. So my prediction is that if one of the stamp companies would come out with a stamp set and the jpg or svg or whatever form of the cut file (that could be used on an open cutter like Silhoutte)to match they would pull in tons of business. CTMH is on the right track with their joint venture with Cricut on the Art Philosophy cartridge. Someone will do it with a more open system like the Silhoutte and it will be a smashing success.
Holy craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap that is an awesome idea! Makes me wish I had a Silhouette!!! I'm a cricut owner and I'm so jealous!!
Seems like a great machine. I already have original cricut and just bought the expression2. I have enough cartridges that I can pretty much cut anything I really need for my layouts. I try to keep my scrapping simple – all these new machines, techniques, and ideas are getting me over whelmed. They are great ideas, but I think we are starting to get over indulged, is that the word, or over kill? I think I'll get the projects I have (too many) done and enjoy the techniques. I promised to not buy any other machines or start another project untill I get caught up – lol – will that happen? I do love your tutorials though – keep them coming. I just think I will stay where I am – learning the cricut. Thank you.
That was amazing. I will have to watch it, oh, I'd say, another 10 times!!! Would you reccomend Photo shop 9 to a beginner? I don't have a editing software yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Now I think I need a silhoette. Sandy C. sczcec@yahoo.com
You really did a good job at converting this to the silhoutte.Have you consider the copy write laws? and you know Cricuit just won a case with Sure Cuts A Lot for just about the same thing.Don't want to be a bummer but don't want anybody getting into trouble either.
Wow!! I have the older Silhouette and I haven't used it very much. I'm going to get it out and try this. Thanks for the tutorial – it was AWESOME!!!
Awesome, albeit very complicated tutorial… love it.
VERY informative, thank for sharing!
Oh Boy, now you've pushed me into it, I NEED a Silhouette. I have a cricut and almost 100 carts, but this has slightly different abilities. I love the finer cuts, and this shadowing a rubber stamp, well. AWESOME. I have used SCAL to do the font thing with cricut, but never saw anything like this!! YOU ROCK.
Awesome tutorial Christina. I've been making my own shapes and cutting them out using my old (original) Silhouette for a few years. It's nice to see how you've come up with a different way then I've been doing it. Your way has alot less steps than my way..so my next project will be following your steps.thank you so very much!
Wow, that is cool! I want one, but no cash! 🙁 I will have to wait, but I want one thanks
It's so nice that you have a tutorial and I am really interested to learn it and make one for my little brother. I am so grateful to be here, I can add it to my collections.
I'm a day late in commenting on this awesome tutorial and all I can say is WOW. My head is spinning. Your ability to navigate through PE and the Sil is uncanny. Great job.
This is really neat! I'm wondering if I could do the same thing with SCAL and my Cricut Expression??? I bought SCAL last spring, but haven't really played with it much. I have the original Expression that I don't update so that I can use it with SCAL (since the lawsuit put the nix on SCAL), and I bet I can do this same thing with SCAL. Oh my, so much to learn and consider!!
Wife showed me your video and I made a couple items on my silouette for her. Great technique. Thanks for sharing.
I want to thank you for doing these and I hope you do MORE LOL I got this cutter about 3 months ago. I also have a cricut. There doesn't seem to be alot of info about this cutter. I have been playing with it, I am slowly learning. I also joined their store after watching your video. Again Thank you.
Thank you for the video. I've been thinking about doing this for a while, but just had not got around to it until your video inspired me. I had to play with it a bit to adapt it to SCAL and the distressed stamp set I wanted to us, but it turned out great in the end. You can see what I did in this post: http://mkandthecrew.blogspot.com/2011/09/sympathy-card-using-cut-files-made-for.html
Hero Arts has cut files that you can download that go with some of their stamps already. They seem to be adding more slowly. Just go to their web page and they are listed.
Will this work with the regular Silhouette or only the SD? nlundeen at catt dot com
Thanks for redirecting me back to this video! I see I watched it back in August and thought I'd get a Silhouette by Christmas! LOL…I was a bit late but not by much! This is so helpful…so glad I watched it again!
Thank You so much for all your hard work to share with us. I can't wait to try this.
